While everyone gets ready for the big game tonight, we're taking a moment to celebrate the Corps McBean Trophy.
Played last month, our annual Corps football competition is held in memory of Major Tony McBean, who tragically lost his life to MND. This year marked the 10th anniversary of the tournament, which was fittingly held in Morpeth, close to Tony's home.
The day brought together friends, family and colleagues to remember Tony through the game he loved.
The final itself was an epic contest between 30 Signal Regiment and 16 Signal Regiment. 30 took a 2–0 lead before 16 staged a remarkable comeback, equalising with virtually the last kick of the game to make it 2–2. The drama wasn't over there though, as 30 held their nerve to win the trophy on penalties a fitting outcome, with Tony having served as the RSM of 30 Signal Regiment.
It was a glorious day of football and remembrance, celebrating Tony's life and legacy. Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the 10th anniversary of the Corps McBean Trophy such a special occasion.
