Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Corps of Signals, visited 11 Signal and West Midlands Brigade on Exercise FLYING FALCON on 19th October. The Brigade has deployed over 900 soldiers across the UK and Germany to rehearse communications and command system support for the UK’s warfighting division. Her Royal Highness met Regular and Reserve soldiers from across the Brigade to discuss the realities of working on the modern battlefield and into the cyber domain. As ever, Her Royal Highness’s visit gave a huge morale boost to those she met.
Lt Col Rob Harris, Commanding Officer of 3(UK) Div Sig Regt, said. ‘The positive impact our Colonel-in-Chief has on morale is quite astounding. She never fails to take a real interest in our soldiers and makes everyone feel at ease. This was a great opportunity to show her the Regiment’s successes on this important exercise and one that I and all the soldiers involved will cherish’.
Brig Smith, Commander 11 Signal and West Midlands Brigade said, ‘It was fantastic to welcome our Colonel-in-Chief to Exercise FLYING FALCON and demonstrate the quality of our people, our ability to integrate both Regular and Reserve components, and the opportunity it presents to conduct grass-roots signalling in support of the Warfighting Division. Her Royal Highness’ visit was a brilliant end to a critical training event’.
