Netball Centenary Tour

CC100 Tour Overview

Florida, USA. From 16 – 27 Nov 20 taking 2 teams (20 Players) and including the Florida Netball Classic Tournament (20 – 22 Nov 20). Florida Netball Classic Tournament tournament has been running for 27 years and has grown into a two-day event which has hosted up to 50 teams from countries such as Jamaica, Canada, Antigua, The Bahamas, Trinidad & Tobago, Cayman Islands, Australia, New Zealand and England. The Corps Netball Team have liaised with SBMA Signal Troop based in MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa. The team will use these facilities to train and play friendlies prior to the competition. As the tour runs over Remembrance, the team will liaise with SBMA Signal Troop and the US Army to take part in a Remembrance Parade in Tampa.

Sport Overview

Corps Netball has continued to develop over the last 5 years. Increasing from one squad to three squads. There are currently 35 female soldiers (including 3 reservists) on the Corps Netball Squad. It has the largest female representation in the Corps.  Following our previous two performances at the Inter-Corps Championships, R SIGNALS Netball is now one of the biggest competitors at the Inter-Corps.

Recent Sporting Success

The Corps has entered 3 teams into the Inter-Corps Championships.  Both 1st and 2nd team have finished runners-up in their division.  The 1st team narrowly losing by 2 goals in the final against the AGC.  The Corps Netball Team took part in La Manga Netball Tournament in Spain.  16 players (2 teams) took part in this competition, with one team reaching the finals and narrowly finishing runners-up. Capt Mulderrig, Cpl Loach and LCpl Price compete for the Army Squad. Capt Mulderrig and LCpl Price also represented the UKAF in Netball Europe.
