Basketball Centenary Tour

CC100 Tour Overview

In March 2020, R SIGNALS Basketball will travel to the USA.  The tour will see 24 players both male and female visiting Fort Gordon for a ten-day period, to train and compete against the US Army Signal Corps. This is a high-profile event and the intent is to invite the Commanding General of the Army Cyber Command and the Commanding General of the Cyber Centre of Excellence to watch the game.  Whilst at Fort Gordon the team has also been invited to visit the US Cyber Battle Lab to enhance understanding and strengthen partnerships.

Sport Overview

R SIGNALS Basketball is one of the most competitive teams in the Army and it sees players regularly competing at Army and UK Armed Forces level.  The Corps Basketball construct comprises of both male and female teams, and it prides itself in its inclusivity, diversity and sportsmanship qualities.

Recent Sporting Success

The R SIGNALS Basketball team annually competes for a top three placing at the Army Inter Corps Championships. We have strong representation at Army level with 9 male and 3 female players selected for both the Senior and Under 23 teams. The Chairman and Vice Chairman of Army Basketball are both R SIGNALS officers and we have coaches and officials positioned throughout the Army set-up. Recently the team has trained with the Scottish champions Boroughmuir Blaze in Edinburgh and we have links to the Reading Rockets and Bristol Flyers.
