Athletics & Cross Country Centenary Tour

CC100 Tour Overview

The R SIGNALS Athletics & Cross Country Tour will form part of the R SIGNALS Centenary of Sport, celebrating 100 years of the Corps. This year the Corps will be sending 20 Athletes selected based on their commitment and strong desire to further develop their talent for athletics. The tour is set to commence 5 January 2020 for a duration of 10 days in Tenerife, whereby athletes will train alongside the GB athletes at the Antonia Dominguez Stadium. This year the tour will further utilise the islands training potential through use of the mountain trails, beaches and running routes key to the development of our Corps endurance athletes. Training will also be focussed in on developing females and youth. With the Athletics team consistently placing on the podium across the Army year in year out, we invite you to be apart of the 2020 season from the start, to experience our athletes journey from start to podium in 2020.

Sport Overview

The R SIGNALS athletics team has had consistent success over the past couple of years, mainly due to investment in the development of younger athletes through sports tours. In 2019 the team placed 2nd in the Army at the Inter-Corps Championships, with several of the team going on to represent the Army in future competitions. In 2017 the Corps Team won both the Inter-Unit and Inter-Corps Championships for the first time in over 15 years.  Individual skill levels are continually developing at pace, our relationship with GB & NI Coach James Hillier now in its third year.  Historically the Corps has always promoted athletics and the prestigious Corps Championships, the Morrison Cup, remains one of the most well attended and calendar events of the year.
