We meet 12 times a year. Eight times a year for a monthly meeting at:
Blandford Constitutional Club
Meetings start at 1930 hrs for 2000 hrs. The meeting, hosted by our Chairman, last from 10 minutes to an hour depending on topics to be discussed. Afterwards we retire to the bar for a beverage.
Approximately four times a year we hold our meeting in the Brewery Visitors Centre, Blandford St Mary, DT11 9LS.
This meeting lasts between 5 and 10 minutes – and consist of reading the minutes from the previous meeting as wives, partners and friends are in attendance. The main idea is to enjoy each others company and the fine food provided by our hosts at a cost of approx. £17 per head. During the evening a raffle takes place with prizes donated by members; proceeds are donated to the Branch.
Join your local RSAMembership of The RSA is open to any person – Regular, TA/Reserve, National Service, ATS, WRAC – who served with the Corps.
Functions and Events
The main function of the year is the Annual Dinner dance, usually held at the Crown Hotel, Blandford. The Branch donate a portion of the cost per head to all members and their guests to offset the cost to members. During dinner we are entertained by the Stour Valley Brass Band, many of the members are ex-members of the Corps band. After dinner there is normally another Band for the rest of the evening for all us oldies to dance the night away and, as with the Supper night, a raffle is held with the proceeds donated to the Branch. A very popular evening with about 100 members and guests attending.
Once a year we hold our AGM on a Sunday lunchtime January/February, held at a location that the Branch can hire with the facilities to meet our needs as near to Blandford as possible. Once the business has been finalised we then enjoy a lunch with our wives/partners followed by a Raffle with proceeds donated to Branch funds.
Are you a younger serving or retired soldier?
We are always on the lookout for new members and in particular, younger members of the Corps. If during your service you donated a days pay to the RSA (which does lots of good work with ex members of the Corps) then you are entitled to become a life member of the Association and a member of our branch. Do get in touch (see below).
